On Wednesday, March 20 at 8 PM, American pianist Jeremy Denk will perform at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. The show is presented by Market Square Concerts, and will feature a wide-ranging program of music by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt and Bartok. Denk will repeat the same program in Carnegie Hall just two days later. Denk has appeared as a soloist with many major orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the symphony orchestras of Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and London. He regularly gives recitals in New York, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, and around the United States. This season he makes solo appearances in venues including Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium and London's Wigmore Hall, and plays concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, and Ravel. Violinist Gregory Glessner will open the show as a part of the 2012-13 Young Artist Performances program (YAP). Tickets are $30, $25 for seniors, and $5 for college students. Tickets are free for school students and $5 for one accompanying parent or sibling. The concert is sponsored by Pennsylvania Retina Specialists and season sponsor Capital BlueCross.
