New Cumberland, PA – On Saturday, August 22, 2015, Snuffy’s NU-2-U clothing and consignment store celebrates it’s grand opening, starting at 10am. KISS FM will be present from 10am to Noon with live broadcasts, celebrity meet-n-greets, and giveaways.
Snuffy’s is the creation of husband and wife team Sean and Allison Barowski, and is managed by Heather Simpson. The business is named after the Barowski’s late son, Snuffy.
Their account of how the business got its name follows:
Allison, a pregnant mom of three, in her early 20s, fresh out of high school, and with no real career skills, knew she had to do something to create an income but not jeopardize the raising of her children. “I had a wardrobe full of brand name clothing, and other personal items, I had no use for. So, I started selling them on craigslist, Facebook and eBay.” The items sold well, and Allison was able "get by" but she quickly ran out of items to sell, so she started buying brand names at wholesale, and started a solid home-based clothing resale business.
Along the way, “Snuff” joined the family as her fourth child. Since Allison now had purpose, and the business was growing, the kids went everywhere with her, from flea markets to the post office mailing runs. “Things were growing so fast, I had to enlist the help of my husband. Our inventory was expanding, so we set up our garage as a make-shift store,” Allison said.
Tragically, in the midst of such wonderful success, at just 16 months, Snuffy passed away.
Wanting to remember him in a positive way, the Barowski’s leased a retail location right on Bridge Street, in the heart of New Cumberland, and opened Snuffy’s Nu-2-U.
Honoring Snuff gives a different air to the store. Allison added, “Customers know we’re a family, dedicated to offering gently used and new items at a great price. They shop with confidence and even bring in their items for quick cash.”
