For over 10 years, Harrisburg DJs Jerramey Sin of Monsterz Under the Bed and Kevin Sheetz (DJ BitchSLAPhappy) were two of the leading figures in Central PA’s Electronic Dance Music (EDM) scene, performing at clubs throughout the mid-Atlantic. “I approached Kevin about a year ago about doing a collaboration as a production duo,” recalled Sin “and Kevin decided we should do originals as well.” The pair formed the DJ team YeahiLikeThat, and promptly began entering production and remix contests. They found early acclaim in February 2012 by placing second in the LucasLouwerse.com Remix Contest for Ellie White’s The Power of Love, which quickly brought them the attention of producers and DJs worldwide.
Following their contest successes, YeahiLikeThat began releasing songs through American progressive house pioneer DJ Icey’s label Zone Records, including the collaboration Sound the Alarm with DJ Fixx in June of 2012. Sound the Alarm was followed by a residency at Baltimore’s Otakon anime convention in July, and the duo went on to release dozens of projects including remixes of Florence Welch, Lana del Rey, Ke$ha, Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Lights and Bjork.
YeahiLikeThat’s biggest project to date was announced in January 2013, when British EDM mainstay DJ Rap revealed their involvement in her newest release, Satisfied. “I had contacted DJ Rap through Soundcloud and asked if she was working with any remix artists. I told her about YeahiLikeThat and she sent us an a cappella chorus of Satisfied and said if we smashed it she’d look to getting it released,” said Sin. “She ended up liking our version so much she wrote additional vocals.”
DJ Rap not only commissioned three YeahiLikeThat remixes for official release, but also made their Radio Remix the closing video for her Satisfied Trilogy project. “The Trilogy video for Satisfied is going to consist of the drum & bass version, a dubstep version and the YeahiLikeThat Radio Mix,” explained Sheetz. “She’s treating it as a mini-movie.” All three videos will be available through Youtube.com/TheDJRap and YeahiLikeThat’s tracks can be purchased through iTunes, Amazon and BeatPort.
YeahiLikeThat continues to collaborate on remixes, as well as producing original tracks and performing live. “We’re still new as a group to the scene, and it’s about getting the music out to people who don’t understand it yet,” said Sin. “It’s not about the money, we’re just trying to get people to dance. Music is emotional and when we look out at the crowd and see all the lit up faces, we know we are doing our job.” YeahiLikeThat can be heard performing every Saturday night in the Moet Room of Privado in downtown Harrisburg, and will be on tour this April. Many of YeahiLikeThat’s remixes can be heard on Soundcloud.com/YeahiLikeThat and the latest news and concert information can be found at Facebook.com/YeahiLikeThat.
