During the third weekend in August, Mount Gretna will hold the 39th Annual Outdoor Art Show on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua (park). 260 artists are carefully selected through a juried competition, and will have their works for display and sale for the 20,000 visitors the art show brings in every year.
The event will be held on Saturday, August 17, 9 a.m.—6 p.m., and Sunday, August 18, 9 a.m.—5 p.m., rain or shine. Artist categories include: paintings, clay, drawings, pastels, fabric, glass, jewelry, metal, leather, paper, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood, and more. The two-day festival includes live music on the stage adjacent to the food court, as well strolling performers. The food court features local restaurants such as The Hershey Pantry, Hess's Barbecue Catering, The Jigger Shop, and more. Saturday morning only, 9 a.m.—1 p.m., there will be a Kids Art Show where families can find kids' crafts and make-and-take art activities at the Chautauqua Playground.
The grounds of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua at located between Route 117 and Pennsylvania Avenue in Mount Gretna. There will be substantial free show parking at the Philhaven Hospital lot, with complimentary shuttle service and limited free parking available on Soldier's Field on Timber Road. Admission to the Outdoor Art Show is $10 for 12 years old and up, $16 for a two-day pass, and free for children 11 and younger. Admission gates can be found at Carnegie Ave. and Route 117, Princeton Ave. North, Princeton Avenue South, and the corner of Lehigh and Penna Avenues.
